We're committed to making our contribution to a healthy, sustainable environment, and we're already taking steps to reduce our carbon footprint both in our stores and at our corporate headquarters. Here are some of our initiatives:
At our corporate headquarters in New Jersey, we have several energy conservation initiatives in place, including the use of a back-up generator in our distribution center. Should additional power be required by the town, county or state, we can temporarily reduce our energy use and run our business on our back-up generator.
Since 2009 we've sold reusable bags in all of our stores across the united states. We're also looking into options for those municipalities that require the elimination of plastic bags.
We've made recycling easier for our health enthusiasts at our headquarters by offering recycling bins for all things plastic and paper. We also provide receptacles for recycling household batteries.
We're constantly on the hunt for great "green" products to help us all live a healthy, sustainable lifestyle. We offer product lines in our stores and on our web site that are environmentally friendly like Mrs. Meyer's Clean Day, bpa free water bottles and reusable lunch kits and bags.
Our store in Manahawkin, NJ is Gold LEED Certified and we are very proud! LEED (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design) is an international green building program. We're continuing to use sustainable design and construction practices wherever we can, to help improve our stores.

The journey to great health goes beyond each individual; it includes building vibrant communities. The Vitamin Shoppe is committed to being a positive influence in the communities we serve, both domestically and abroad.
As a part of our charitable efforts, we have 30 teams dedicated participating in bike MS events nationwide. we also volunteer to man rest area booths for two bike MS events, "Coast the Coast" in New Jersey and MS bike NYC (New York City, NY) to distribute free water and sports nutrition items to participants.
We support the efforts of Vitamin Angels to bring nutrition to children in need. We also support disaster relief efforts by donating to the New Jersey foodbank. You can find more information about our charitable efforts listed on our website in the "About Us" section.

We continue to have the highest standards in the dietary supplement industry, producing our private label products with the most stringent attention to quality, service and price-and often exceeding the legal requirements for quality-testing, record-keeping and manufacturing. our customers' health, safety and peace of mind are always our top priority.
We want to ensure that our customers get accurate information on dietary supplements so that they can make informed decisions about supporting and maintaining their health. To do this, we make sure that our advertising and marketing materials are substantiated under the requirements of both the federal food drug and cosmetic act as amended by the dietary supplement health and education act (DSHEA), and the federal trade commission act. our customers can count on the Vitamin Shoppe to give precise and reliable information about all our products.
Our internal controls and procedures in many instances exceed the requirements of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) regulations as regulated by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). We insist that each of our products pass our own uncompromising quality control tests.
To ensure the highest possible quality, we randomly send products to third party labs for verification of identity, quantity, purity, and the absence of contamination. any product that does not meet our exacting standards will be removed from our shelves.
Many of our vitamin shoppe brand products have been certified by NSF International. You can learn more about NSF at their website www.nsf.org.
We also participate in the consumerlab.com voluntary testing program where we submit products to consumerlab.com to test as an independent third party.

We provide all of our vendors with a code of conduct for doing business with the Vitamin Shoppe (at this time we release our vendor code of conduct to our vendors only).
